This week sees the undefeated Ouyen Untied at home to third placed Jeparit Rainbow and both sides won well last week. Ouyen United defeated Hopetoun while Jeparit Rainbow accounted for last year’s premiers Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers.
Both sides have a focal point at full forward with Ash Connick for the Demons and Peter Weir for the Lakers. Both players will give their respective full backs plenty to do.
On last weeks game Ouyen United were fast around the forward line with good running players making the most of their opportunities, while Jeparit Rainbow won the ball easily in the centre and were able to make good use of the ball through the Clugston brothers and Luke Werner.
The Ouyen United backline has been good this year with Jarrod Munro and Kieren O’Shannessy being reliable in their roles and they should give the Lakers’ forwards a hard time. Justin Chilver was a stand out for the Lakers last week in the ruck, and his battle against Jason Hahnel will be interesting.
Jeparit Rainbow usually play well at Blackburn Park but at home Ouyen United might just get up to win.
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers are at home to Beulah and this game will be played at Sea Lake not Berriwillock. This was to be the test game for both of these sides but last week the Tigers faltered against Jeparit Rainbow and looked quiet ordinary, while Beulah continued on their winning way with a crushing defeat of Woomelang Lascelles.
The match up of the day will be the battle between Beulah’s Tom Hallam and the Tigers Col Durie. Both players are having a great season and this battle should be worth seeing.
The Tigers seemed under manned last week and will need all players on deck this week. Beulah forwards were worked over time with Jarrod Combes kicking 12 goals and withDale Shannon, Sam Martin and Kim Hallam delivering the ball quickly into the forward line will put pressure on the Tigers back line. Beulah will be too strong and quick for the Tigers.
Walpeup Underbool travel to Woomelang to do battle with the Cats. One of these sides will come away with their first win for the season. The Roos are probably the more balanced of the two sides and if Kane Munro is available he will give the Roos forward line some stability.
Woomelang Lascelles last week found it hard to score goals and this has been a major problem. The recruitment of Jason Kreuger has been a positive for the Cats as he has started to find form. Both sides have struggled this season but it might be the Roos who come away with the points in this game.
Hopetoun has the bye.
