JEPARIT RAINBOW V BEULAH
When these two sides met earlier this year, Beulah ran out comfortable winners. This time the Lakers will be out to show their supporters that they are an improving combination, and the signs look promising. By the end of their last game, Jeparit Rainbow had eight players on the injured list, but with a long break due to the bye and then the Interleague game, they are able to welcome back Ben Zanker and Brian Harrison who have missed a total of six games between them. This should bolster a forward line that already has Peter Weir kicking goals and they have the inform Justin Chilver in the ruck, Ash and Heath Clugston around the ground, and they have a backline led by running players Jayden and Luke Werner. The Lakers will need all of their big guns firing against a Beulah side that is so far undefeated and even though they are playing away from home, the Blues should be too strong and too talented for the Lakers.
HOPETOUN V WALPEUP UNDERBOOL
This should be the closest match of the round with the home side Hopetoun deserving the right to be favourites. They defeated the Roos on their home turf in a high scoring affair first time round this year, and with the red hot form of Marcus Burdett - best for Mallee in the Interleague game last week - and Clint Burdett, and with Zac Taggert, Liam Price and Bryce Wellington also playing well, they are going to be hard to beat. Walpeup Underbool have a height advantage over the Devils and they are a fast side around the ground with the speedy Warwick Brady leading the way. This is an important game for both teams and there shouldn’t be much between them at the final siren with the Devils just ahead.
OUYEN UNITED V WOOMELANG LASCELLES
There will be a lot of interest in how the Cats perform this week against the Demons due to some of the Woomelang Lascelles inclusions. They may be languishing on the bottom of the ladder, but with a near full list to chose from, the Cats could be dangerous. Returning from injury are Chris Foott, Daen Murray and Jason Kreuger and they will be joined by Trent Donnan and Brodie Adcock who were Best on Ground in the Interleague matches against Horsham in the Under 17s and Under 14s respectively. The last time they met, Ouyen United scored heavily in what turned out to be a very one sided affair, this time around Woomelang Lascelles will be looking for improvement all over the ground, but it is hard go past Ouyen United who are in very good form. Brenton Jardine and Glenn Joyce performed very well in the Mallee Interleague winning team, Sonny Lindsay is improving with every game, throw in Ryan O’Callaghan who is having a stellar season, and the Demons should be far too strong at home. It will be interesting to see if Kieran O’Shannessy comes up this week and there is some doubt about Glenn Joyce’s fitness. The Dees certainly missed Glenn in their only loss for the season when he did not play against Beulah.
