Over 40’s Mens Final
Auckland vs Bay of Plenty
An excited crowd were on hand to see if Auckland could make it three from three in the Over 40 Men's. Bay of Plenty had beat the men in blue earlier in the day and new it was possible.
The Bay Train started strongly with Steven Hudson producing a run away effort to
put the pressure on Auckland early.
As the half progressed though Auckland's composure and experience began to show. First Tom Edmonds scored thanks to come clever in-goal by Peter wAlters and then Peter McIntyre got into the action to give Auckland a 2-1 lead.
McIntyre was again in the action centre-field and gave his team some breathing space with another classy touchdown.
Bay kept on coming at Auckland but couldn't crack their defence; eventually they ran out of legs and when David Poe crossed again for Auckland it was all over.
Auckland prevailed 4-1 and are now three-time consecutive Touch National Champions.
