SHBA had four teams compete at the Basketball Victoria Country Div 3 & 4 Junior Country Championships last weekend. The under 16 & 18 girls & boys travelled to Ballarat and took on other teams from all over Country Victoria with the U16 boys finishing runners up in the Div 3 section.

The U16 boys had a terrific tournament winning 6 of their 7 games over 2 days just falling short in the final against Southern Peninsula by 9 points. In a great team effort they combined well and played at a high level all weekend considering this was their first tournament & their only 7 games together against other country teams. Xavier Sherlock was outstanding in the point guard position creating scoring opportunities for team mates and himself and also applying pressure at the defensive end. Nick Taylor & Kai Everett were dominant on the boards and were consistent point scorer all weekend. Pat Blake and Koby McMillan ran the floor well picking up points in offensive transition & finishing from drives to the basket. Liam Edwards & Wil Bennett read the ball well in defense often intercepting passes and pushed the ball into offence at every chance, they also finished well around the basket. Jonah Devlin played hard in defence and was consistently a threat from the perimeter and 3pt line. Overall it was a very enjoyable weekend and great to be playing basketball again.
