One Family down GAC...

DOHA: GAC was hungrier and showed a lot of intensity and tried to pull off a surprise over One Family but their best was not good enough as they started to crumble in the crucial minutes of the game to lost, 81-73,, at the close of the eliminationrounds of 2011 McDonald's Basketball Cup of Pinoy Basketbol Qatar at the Al Gharrafa Multi Training Gym over the weekend.

The frontliners of GAC led by Lawrence Gapasin tried to stay in contention in most part of the game within just four-point deficits. Gapasin tried to create a momentum at theend of the third quarter by converting back-toback baskets to move within a point behind One Family, 60-59.

The GAC boys continued to keep their composure to keep within a close distance with five minutes left of the final quarter and evened the score at 66-all with 3:28 minutes leftin the game.

But that's the only way they could muster enough a good play after they also falter with bad passes leading to the interception and basket conversations of One Family's fast break plays to start to pull away 72-66, in the crucial last two minutes.

GAC's loss dashed their hopes of making it to the quarterfinals as they now settled for two wins, three losses record.

Next friday would be a big for the Class A Division for the Best-of-Three championship battle between Jersey Master and KIA Motors/mindoro Tamaraws. Both teams won in the last Friday's matches giving them ticket to a crack to the championship crown.

KIA Motors easily toppled Doah Premiums, 92-72, in the morning games while the league standing leader Jersey Master managed to squeak past a hard earned victory over Western Union/Rumaillah, 80-79 in the afternoon games.

The losing teams will battle for the one match game for the third place plum. In Division B, Powerhorse continued their campaign to be on the stop spot with another victory over The ONE, 85-42. Transfer/KBAS also handily won over Salam Petroleum, 81-45, to also remain spotless with six wins and no losses record.
