NEWS: Deakin Ducks accepted into Men’s State League competition in 2017

REIGNING GRFC Men’s Division One champions and perennial league powerhouse, Deakin Ducks, have had their application to enter next season’s Victorian State League competition accepted by Football Federation Victoria.

The Ducks, who celebrated the unveiling of a new $8 million state of the art multi-sport facility at the Deakin University campus in Waurn Ponds by convincingly taking out the Men’s Division One title in 2016, will compete alongside Lara United in the Western division of State Five.

The Ducks will be hoping to emulate fellow Geelong region club, Golden Plains, who captured promotion into State Four (West) in their debut season in the Melbourne based competition.

In addition to fielding a Seniors and Reserves team in the State League competition, a condition of entry requires Deakin to maintain a (third) team in the local Men’s GRFC competition.

This shouldn’t pose an issue for the Ducks, who fielded no less than six senior Men’s teams in the three GRFC divisions last year.
