GEELONG REGION FOOTBALL LEAGUE – (WOMEN’S) ROUND 15 PREVIEW

SURFSIDE Waves will be looking to cement their spot in the Top Four, when they travel to fifth placed Geelong SC Red in the Round 15 Women’s Division Match of the Day on Saturday.

Just four points separate the fourth placed Waves from their Saturday opponents. As such, the Ocean Grove outfit will be intensely motivated to return to the winners’ list following their gutsy 1-3 loss to top side Kardinia International College last round.

The Lions, meanwhile, will be buoyed by the impressive performance in their 1-1 draw with third placed Barwon SC last week. The clash between the Waves and Geelong SC Red will be the earlier game of a Stead Park double header, with kick off set down for 1pm.

In the later game, runaway league leaders Kardinia College will be out to maintain their brilliant form of late, coming up against second last placed Geelong SC at 3pm.

Second placed Deakin Ducks will tackle bottom side Corio Bay at Howard Glover Reserve at 1:00pm, while third placed Barwon SC will host sixth placed Breakwater Eagles at the same time at Grovedale Reserve.

Both the Ducks and Barwon will be aiming to consolidate their spot in the Top Four, with just four rounds remaining before the 2015 Finals’ Series commences.

In the other Women’s Division game, eight placed Surf Coast FC is at home to seventh placed Barwon Heads at Banyul Warri Reserve at 1:00pm.
