NEWS: MiniRoos Fixtures out for Northern Hub's Week #7..

THE 2017 Aldi MiniRoos Northern Hub will take a week's break due to the Queen's Birthday, then the travelling roadshow will move to the Lara Recreation Reserve on Sunday week for Week 7. Lara United will host the Northern Hub at its complex in Lara for two weeks before the whole competitions takes a two week break for school holidays.

ATwo new teams will join the Northern Hub at Lara - Elcho Park Cardinals will be entering a 5th U9s team, while after a few seasons' hiatus the Corio Bay Soccer Club will be entering a junior team (U9).

Formed in conjunction with Northern Bay College and Football Federation Victoria, the team is part of the FFV funded School's Participation Pilot Program, which has seen Corio Bay and new club FC Leopold benefit from having a fully funded coach to set up, run and administer new club based teams at Northern Bay and Leopold Primary School.

It is hoped that this will trigger a renaissance with Corio Bay's junior section of the club, which has suffered from lack of numbers in recent years.

The MiniRoos Hubs comprise of all the U7s, U9s and U11s age group competitions, split between the Joeys (beginners) and Kangas (advanced) sub-leagues. The U7s play in 4v4 (players) on 1/8 the size of a full pitch, the U9s play 7v7, while the U11s play 9v9.

With the MiniRoos, all teams play competitive games but there are no ladders or competition points. That is introduced at U12 junior level.

The highlight of this year's MiniRoos will be the fact that for the first time ever there will be standalone Girls' leagues at U11 level for both Hubs, testament to the growing numbers of young girls taking up the sport.

At the same time, there has been a healthy increase across the board with all other age categories.

The full fixture list (along with pitch allocations) for the Northern Hub is attached. The Southern Hub fixtures can be found under the FIXTURES/RESULTS tab at the top of this website.
