Goulburn North East is still waiting for confirmation of just what adult men's competition will be contested next Summer Zone League season.

It looks increasingly likely Football Federation Victoria will not ask for the zone's $100000 licence fee next year to operate a semi-professional open men's competition.

While there has been no definitive answer on the future of the senior men's component of summer league, the FFV has given assurances that the current crop of under-18 boys will have a team to play in.

Concepts such as an open men's division without the licence fee, under-21s and under-23s have all been rumoured options.

The FFV will hold a review of the summer league upon its finish in March, the 2009-10 season is set to start in October.

Goulburn North East steering committee chairman Frank Trimboli said answers were needed for forward planning.

``If we have that senior competition it's going to be much easier to get local government to support facility funding,'' Trimboli said.

``We look at the artificial pitches at Epping and now the ones proposed for Bendigo.

``Just how much do we want those facilities here? If we don't have something that's the pinnacle of the sport in this area how are we going to get the facilities?''
