George Traianidis had to reapply for his job but was ultimately successful as Shepparton United this week locked him in for next North Eastern Soccer League season.

However, a coach for United's triple-reigning premier women's team is yet to be appointed.

The Blues made the finals in Traianidis' first two seasons as men's division one coach, but advertised for applications after United's preliminary final exit to Shepparton this year.

United president Shane Harford said the club had opted for consistency by keeping Traianidis, his commitment to coaching in the Summer Zone League was an important part of him keeping the job.

Harford said United had talked to coaches in Albury and Melbourne about the senior men's job, but their level of commitment was lacking.

Traianidis said his first priority was to put a solid pre-season into United's players after it was caught out by fixture changes on season's eve this year.

Recruits from the United Kingdom that bolstered United's push for a finals spot this year did not arrive until a month into the season.

The Blues did not post a win until round eight.

"The early start caught us off guard and we need to start earlier if we want to improve from last year," Traianidis said.

"I've learnt a lot from the summer league with Arthur (Papas) being in charge."

United had four players from the UK play in its team this year.

Harford said decisions on recruiting for next season were yet to be made.

"The committee will put plans together and tell our players what the direction is," Harford said.

"A focus for us is giving the under-16s an avenue into the seniors and reserves and developing both squads.

"Any club is looking to get to a grand final, we want to get there by being competitive for the whole year."
