A broken arm will mean stints on the sidelines for Spiro Vourgaslis in Kyabram District Football League and North Eastern Soccer League for the Undera and Tatura star.

Vourgaslis, 18, broke his left arm in the dying moments of Undera's loss to Ardmona in Kyabram District league on Saturday when he came down from a marking contest.

The injury is likely to sideline the football on-baller and soccer striker for eight weeks.

Vourgaslis has been a regular in Undera's best this season, helping the Lions to fourth place on the ladder with a nine-win, three-loss record.

His eight goals have also been integral in keeping Tatura's finals hopes alive in North Eastern soccer, enough for a share of equal fourth on the scoring charts.

Vourgaslis said he would have surgery this week to have a plate inserted in his arm.

``It's disappointing, but I want to be back by the end of the season,'' Vourgaslis said.

``I'll be out for up to eight weeks.

``Hopefully both teams (Undera and Tatura) can make the finals and I can come back to play.''

Vourgaslis played under-18 football at Mooroopna last season before moving to Undera to play alongside brother Peter in the Lions' line-up this year.

Tatura will need to find a replacement striker for Vourgaslis to partner David Turkovic, who has nine goals to his credit.

The Ibises currently have equal-leading scorer in the reserves division Mohammed Saleh in their ranks.
