Pair to miss crucial clash

Cobram Victory's challenge for a finals position has taken a major blow with key midfielder Cameron Miles collecting his third yellow card of the season in his side's 5-0 win against Kialla United on Sunday.

Miles will miss Victory's clash with Shepparton at Barooga next week, along with Joey Crea who was sent off.

Miles scored two goals for Victory and Nick Mantovani a hat-trick in the win, with Kialla's Ali Karimi and Hassan Taha also sent off.

Kialla United also had five other players yellow-carded in addition to the two reds.

At Cobram, the Tigers kept their finals hopes alive with a 2-1 win against Tatura.

Goals to Ivo Madeira and Daniel Genovesi cancelled out Tatura's goal to Dane Butler.

At Numurkah, Shepparton United stayed in the finals mix with a 3-1 win against the Knights.

Fahed Alghazaly scored two goals for the Blues and Roven Shaholli the other, while Denc Thuch scored for Numurkah.

The current battle for finals positions is headed by Shepparton in second with 22 points, from Tatura on 20, Victory on 19, Cobram on 19 and United on 18.

However, if Shepparton United's protest against Shepparton's 5-2 win in round 14 is successful, the ladder will be United in second on 21 points, from Tatura on 20, Victory on 19 (+12 goals), Cobram on 19 (+6) and Shepparton on 19 (+3).

South to relive successes

Shepparton South Soccer Club is holding a reunion for its 1999 premiership teams on Saturday.

The event should be a big one given the Southerners swept the then North Eastern Soccer League and won every division that year.

The senior premiership in 1999 started a golden era for South in which it three-peated.

It had not won a senior premiership before and has not won the senior title since the run ended in 2001.

All former and current players, coaches, team managers, committee, parents, members and supporters are invited to join South at the Goulburn Valley Hotel for the reunion.

To be held on Saturday, the night starts at 6 pm and tickets are $40 for adults, with discounted prices for youth.

Shepp girls break throughShepparton's junior girls team has become the first to defeat Shepparton South in the division's history after a 3-1 win at the weekend.

South had previously gone unbeaten in 29 games, including last year's premiership, before defeat at the weekend.

Isabel Cook scored all three of Shepparton's goals at the weekend.

Shepparton also managed to end South's unbeaten run in men's division two, with Nathan Radevski scoring the Reds' only goal in a 1-0 win.

A couple more teams have joined Kialla United's under-16s in passing the 100-goal milestone for the season, with Shepparton South's under-14s now on 102 from 13 games and Shepparton's under-12s with 101 from 15 games.
