Ibises settle in four

Tatura has moved into the top four of the North Eastern Soccer League men's division one ladder after its 2-1 win against cellar-dweller Cobram.

The Ibises dominated the first half but couldn't put the score on the board, with both teams deadlocked at 0-0 at the main break.

But that all changed in the second half, with David Turkovic scoring a brace for Tatura, while Daniel Raco pulled one back for the Tigers.

Cobram almost managed to pinch an equaliser late in the match, but Tatura goalkeeper Nathan Beavis made a couple of big saves to help the Ibises secure the three points.

Shining Knights

Numurkah recorded its fifth victory of the season with a 1-0 result against Shepparton South in the NESL women's competition on Sunday.

Stacey Tomasino was the star for the Knights, scoring in the second half to move Numurkah up to sixth place on the ladder.

The Knights will have a tougher time of it next weekend against Cobram.

Victory runs hot

Cobram Victory made light work of Kyabram in their women's clash, putting six goals past the Go-annas.

The scoreline was 3-0 at half-time and Victory doubled it in the second half, with Hayley Cornish scoring a hat-trick, Georgia Oudeman getting a brace and Alexandra Nielsen also scoring.

Victory is now six points outside the top four with three games remaining and takes on Tatura next round.

Tigers on prowl

Cobram moved into second on the women's ladder with a 2-0 victory against Tatura.

Tania Doyle scored the first goal, helping the Tigers take a 1-0 lead into half-time, with Angela Hogan putting the game beyond doubt with her second-half strike.

The Tigers capitalised on Shepparton's loss and are now above the Reds on goal-difference and will be looking to consolidate that spot when they take on Numurkah next week.
