United on move
Shepparton United has jumped into the top four of men's division one with a 4-0 win against Cobram at Central Park on Sunday.
The Blues now have 26 points in fourth spot to fifth-placed Tatura on 25.
Chris Ogboke and Bruce Hogg both scored two goals for United.
United and Tatura's battle for positions in the top four will go on hold next week as both teams have the bye.
Cobram Victory and Shepparton both had the bye at the weekend, Victory leads the ladder with 43 points while Shepparton is in second on 42.
Sneaking closer
Cobram Victory has taken two points off Tatura's hold on fourth place in the women's league by beating Numurkah 2-1 at the weekend.
Victory moved to 20 points with the win, while Tatura's 0-0 draw with Shepparton South took it to 26.
Haley Cornish scored both goals for Victory, her second-half winner the difference after Stacey Tomasino's goal had Numurkah go in level at half-time.
South and Tatura exchanged chances at Tatura Park, but failed to find a winner, the draw moves seventh-placed South level with sixth-placed Numurkah on 14 points.
On the comeback
Shepparton's Troy Kennedy is getting closer to a return to senior action after being named in the Reds' best in its 3-1 division two win against Numurkah at the weekend.
Kennedy, who scored the winning penalty for Shepparton in last year's grand final, has missed large chunks of the season with injury.
Form reversals
Just a week after playing in Shepparton, the form lines of Victorian Premier League clubs Australian Institute of Sport and Preston Lions were turned upside-down at the weekend.
Despite AIS winning the Shepparton showdown 2-1, it was the Lions who bounced back with a 1-0 win against Western Suburbs, while AIS lost 2-1 in Canberra to Green Gully.
