Tatura produced the spectacular to win 6-4 against Cobram in North Eastern Soccer League on Sunday and put an end to its 18-game losing streak.

The Ibises tasted victory for the first time since August 2006 in the remarkable shoot-out, twice blowing the lead only to pile on more goals.

It could have been a different story had the Tigers managed to lead in the game, but their best chance to go in front hit the post with the match tied at 4-4.

Cobram remains last on the league table, while Tatura has sensationally jumped into the top four with six points to the Tigers and Shepparton United's three.

Spiro Vourgaslis scored four goals for Tatura, including the match-winning fifth goal, while David Turkovic scored the other two for the Ibises.

Ahmed Al-Mugotir scored three goals for Cobram with one for Noor Haidar.

Tatura went ahead 5-4 when Vourgaslis flicked the ball over a defender and smashed home on his left foot to beat Cobram goalkeeper Darren Valente.

Turkovic headed in from a corner with the last play of the match to seal the game and spark joyous scenes among the Tatura players, coaches and fans.

The Ibises had looked destined for a more straight forward win in the first half as two goals to Vourgaslis and one to Turkovic had Tatura 3-0 up within 25 minutes.

But Cobram roared back into the match with two goals to Ahmed Al-Mugotir and one to Haidar putting the contest on level terms at the break.

Vourgaslis started the second half by striking his third goal of the afternoon from the top of the area to give Tatura a 4-3 lead.

But a cleverly worked free kick from Karl Fannon and Haidar was netted with a cunning flick by Ahmed Al-Mugotir that wrong-footed Tatura goalkeeper Nathan Beavis and levelled the match 4-4.

Ben Buet then cleared a shot off the line for Cobram and launched a counter attack where Ahmed Al-Mugotir put a low shot past Beavis only for the ball to strike the post.

The Tigers didn't get a better chance to win the game and Vourgaslis' fourth duly won the day for Tatura.

``We showed a fighting spirit,'' an elated Tatura coach Rocky Papalia said.

``They say the first win is the hardest.''
