Cobram recorded just its second win of the season with a shock 3-2 result against Shepparton South in their North Eastern Soccer League men's division one clash on Sunday.

Playing at the showgrounds, the Tigers started like a house on fire, with Ahmed Al Mugotir beating the goalkeeper twice and Haidar Noor also scoring to make it 3-0 after just 10 minutes.

Luke Nardella kept the Southerners in touch by converting from the penalty spot towards the end of the first half to make it 3-1 at the main break.

Nardella brought it back to a one-goal difference with 20 minutes to go, but the Tigers managed to hold on to pick up their first victory since defeating Shepparton United 2-1 in April.

``It was great to have a win, sing the song and give our supporters something to celebrate,'' Cobram coach Karlo Hundt said.

``We've been pretty competitive for quite a while but things haven't gone our way, but it all just clicked.

``We were found out a bit in the mud last week, so we changed things around a bit and it just worked, we took our chances.

``We knew they would come back hard, South is a good team, but we defended really well and our goalkeeper Darren Valente made two or three great saves and we got the win.''

The loss is a big blow to South's finals chances, with United moving above it to third place, while Tatura is now just one point behind in fifth spot.

The Tigers travel to meet the Ibises next week and they'll take a lot of confidence into the match.

``We certainly owe Tatura one,'' Hundt said.

``We've been working hard and we know we can match it with them.''
