Aktas becomes a South legend

Serkan Aktas joined Shepparton South legend Ross Cucinotta as one of the greatest players in club history by winning his fourth best and fairest at the weekend.
Cucinotta and Aktas played together in the 1999 premiership team for South and the current playing-coach of the side joined the South icon by taking his fourth club award with 44 votes.
First-year senior player and former under-17s league best and fairest winner Darcy Kilmartin was runner up with 36.
The South women's best and fairest was shared on 44 votes between Angela Foley and Maddy McGuffie with Layla Aktas third on 38.
South's only premiership of the North Eastern Soccer League season came in the under-17s and Pasquale Zito took the top award in that division.
Aktas said he was honoured to have won the award for a fourth time.
"The night was a real credit to the club, we had 250 people at the Shepparton Club and we raised a lot of money," Aktas said.
"Everyone is hoping that the young players doing so well this season can signal a changing of the guard."
South finished the league season in fifth place in the men's seniors, missing out on a finals crack after a last-minute defeat to Shepparton United closed the door on it.
The Southerners also awarded life membership to four of its servants; president Mick Arthur, Frank and Tony Scarsella and women's coach Sam Campi.
