In-form Victory marches into four

Cobram Victory's surge up the women's Goulburn North East Football Association ladder has carried the team to a top-four position after a comprehensive 9-0 win against Kyabram at the weekend.

Victory is the form team of the competition with more points in the past three weeks than any other team, currently fourth on the ladder with 14 points and positive seven goal difference ahead of fifth-placed Tatura (14, +6) and sixthplaced Benalla (14, level).

Kyabram had been competitive in recent weeks, but slumped to its worst loss of the season on Sunday as four goals each to Hayley Cornish and Nicole Startari along with one goal for Imogen Head boosted Victory's goal difference.

Victory's run to the top four has come at the expense of Benalla, the out of form Rovers beaten 2-0 by Shepparton South.

South returned to top spot in the league after an own goal and Maddy McGuffie moved the Southerners to 22 points, one ahead of Shepparton on 21.

The Reds were held 1-1 by Tatura at Rumbalara after Suzan Tanrikulu's opening goal was equalised by Tayla Junor.

Cobram also stayed on the coat-tails of the top four race as it defeated Numurkah, 4-2.

The Tigers' third win of the season moved it to 10 points in seventh place, two ahead of eighth-placed Numurkah.

Bianca Dikkenberg and Laura Miles scored two goals each for Cobram against Numurkah, whose scorers were Ashleigh Kusters and Gabby Gasparroni.
