Shepparton United goalkeeper Joey Perkovi c will face the Regional Premier League tribunal next week to appeal a lengthy suspension.

Perkovi c was sent off during his side’s round two match against Cobram Victory and was charged with multiple counts of an R6 offence under the Goulburn North East Football Association’s fixed penalties system.

An R6 offence relates to the use of offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures.

A spokesperson for the Regional Premier League would not reveal the exact nature of the charges or the length or the suspension, but admitted it was ‘‘significant’’.

Shepparton United has appealed the suspension, but declined to comment on the matter.

The case will be handled by governing body Football Federation Victoria and is expected to be heard tomorrow week.

Cobram Victory player Jamie England was due to face the tribunal last night after he was sent off during the same match.

England was also charged for an R6 offence, but it is understood the length of his suspension was significantly shorter than that of Perkovi c.

Shepparton defender Ian Peach and West Griffith’s Damon Mazzarolo will be eligible for selection this weekend after each served a regulation one-match ban in round three.
