The Wolfpack Welcome Tia Ucich

The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of Tia Ucich for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

The 5’7 guard has played a part of the SBL since 2013, in 2018 Tia’s career took her to the Eastern States where she played in the Big V competition. In 2018 and 2019 Tia played for the Hawthorn Magic where she won the Big V division one defensive player of the year and averaged 11 points a game. We are looking forward to seeing what Tia can bring to the 2021 NBL1 season.

Tia spoke to the Joondalup Wolves on her thoughts about signing with the Wolves for 2021.

“After some great communication with Nixy, witnessing the professionalism of the club and knowing the level at which the team plays on both ends of the court- my decision was made. I’m very grateful to be given the opportunity to play alongside such a talented group of women and I look forward to doing all that I can to contribute to another successful campaign for the Wolves. In other news, I’m also incredibly excited to run out to that iconic Wolfpack tune!”

Joondalup Wolves Women’s Head Coach Charles Nix shared his thoughts on Tia signing for the NBL1 West season.

“To have Tia commit to our squad is really exciting, as she has played in our league in successful teams before and has had experience on the East Coast which I believe will translate well in our system here. Tia can really impact on the defensive end of the floor and my expectation is that she can take a little bit of pressure off our guards by bringing the defensive heat and really making life for opposition guards extremely hard. She has a really solid IQ and understands when to push and when to slow it down and get the ball through some hands, point guard is a really valuable position in our league and we couldn’t be happier that Tia has chosen to join the pack”

Tia will be joining Kayla Steindl, Nes’eya Williams, Izzy Miotti, Chelsea Belcher, Amy Kidner, Georgia Denehey, Amber Land and Alix Hayward on the Wolves Women’s roster in 2021.
