A MESSAGE FROM WANNEROO BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION – WE ARE BACK (7 MAY 2021)

Basketball is back. Thank you for your patience in regard to this latest announcement. We had to be sure if the 1,000 person capacity applied to the entire complex of HBF Arena or just the basketball courts. This afternoon we have received that clarification and are pleased to announce ALL basketball activities can resume without masks from 12.01am Saturday the 8th of May. We are still required to adhere to the 1,000 per venue ruling at all times in HBF Arena.

This means from Saturday ALL domestic competitions (senior & junior) can go ahead as fixtured and WABL and NBL1 games can resume. All programs and training can continue now without masks.

The WBA wishes to advise that as HBF Arena is classed as a “multi-sport arena” if you are attending our venue as a spectator, the number of people in the entire venue may reach over 1,000. As such, we ask that you bring a mask with you just in case, as you may be required to wear it while spectating at certain times.

To limit the chances of reaching capacity, we respectfully ask spectators for WABL and Domestic be kept to a minimum where possible (e.g. immediate family) and common sense applies when bringing spectators to your game. NBL1 crowds will be closely monitored to ensure we do not exceed capacity.

We understand this has been frustrating for our Basketball community so thank you for your patience and understanding as we have and continue to follow the WA Government guidelines.

To assist in stopping the spread of COVID 19 please follow the below advice:

  • If you are unwell, please get tested at one of the COVID WA Clinics.
  • Do not attend basketball training or competitions if you have a fever, sore throat, cough, or shortness of
  • breath. Please seek medical advice and get tested.
  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Ensure you bring a towel and labelled water bottle to games and training. Avoid sharing food and
  • beverages.
  • Sign in using the Safe WA app or contact register in the entry of HBF Arena.

We are extremely excited to see our members back on court and hope we stay there. The health and safety of our members is our number one priority, and we will work with all members and stakeholders to ensure we are doing our part to remain COVID safe.

If this information or any restrictions change, we will inform our members as soon as possible.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
