Junior Season | Weekend 1 Wrap

The Wanneroo Basketball Association's largest ever junior domestic season commenced over the weekend, with some 2500 junior Basketballers in action across 4 key venues.

Well done to the several hundred players, coaches, managers, referees and staff who all combined to deliver a record-breaking weekend for Wanneroo Basketball.

Following the weekend's competition, the Association would like to address some points that arose;

DOOR FEE

All competitions at all venues incur a player and spectator fee (a door fee), excluding the Wolfpack CUBS junior program at LJBC on Saturday mornings.

This fee has always been in place, and helps to cover the costs of venue hire, venue staffing and Basketball WA affiliation costs.

The fees are;

$8 for a family (2 adults, and max 4 children only)
$3 for a player
$2 for a spectator

SPECTATOR SEATING

We are aware that some venues do have limited or inadequate seating for our members and Basketball spectators.

We are following this up with the associated venues as a matter of priority, and hope to resolve the seating concerns as soon as possible.

As per community expectation, we ask that any available seating be offered to elderly or special needs spectators, and we thank the membership for their support with this gesture.

PARKING

We are also working closely with our facility partners to ensure suitable parking is available, within close proximity to the stadiums.

We are aware of some confusion, and limited access, to parking and access points between HBF Arena and LJBC, and this will be resolved during the week for the benefit of members who have multi-venue requirements.

STADIUM ENTRY TIMES

Due to the design of some our facilities, entry and access can be delayed during peak times. The Association is aware of this and in the past 12mths has invested in tools (such as POS door technology) to hasten the way in which we move our members into stadiums.

We always encourage the membership to be prepared, to plan ahead, and to ensure they arrive with ample time before the commencement of games.

We will continue to review how we can best welcome large volumes of members through our venues, and we will look to implement any changes that effectively can speed up the process and improve the user experience.
