A Note from the President

Over the past 48 or so hours, following our Men’s team defeat at the hands of a hungry Perry Lakes Hawks outfit, many of our members have posed the question “what do we do next”?

In recent years we have seen great success from both our Men’s and our Women’s teams – with a combined 8 grand final appearances and 3 championships over the last 8 seasons, we know all too well how tough it is to win a championship in this quality competition.  Our two teams have represented the Association and our membership with pride, dedication and perseverance – and the results of this are the sustained success that we have seen.

As you may have seen reported by the Community News last week, that our recent success has been compared to WAFL club Subiaco Football Club, who are regularly referred to as the power team of WA’s state sporting leagues this decade.  Our record of 6 Men’s Grand Finals in 8 seasons speaks volumes and we are proud of our sustained success, as the WA State Basketball League team who gets it right, the most often.

So what’s next?

The Association has been working hard for a number of years to build a sustainable program – that provides stability and a high quality of performance year in year out.  As many of our members know – this program has been built up slowly over a decade and a half – and the ability to represent our region in championship games – with a shot at a title – is exciting for everyone.

To build this sustainability, we make decisions that provide consistency year after year – if we do something this year – it won’t be a one off – we want to have the ability to repeat it every year – which provides our members and fans with the confidence that they are supporting, and investing in, a high quality program built for high quality outcomes.

What we can assure you is that exciting times are ahead. Whilst the team was diligently closing out the regular season, the Association’s Board and List Management Group were working in earnest to ensure that a clear strategy was in place for an even bigger and better 2019.  Budgets are approved, recruitment targets identified and ways for additional engagement with members underway. It is an exciting time to be part of the Pack!

We are leaders.

Our program management is best in class, we have genuine sports business minds leading our club and making strategic decisions that are based upon sound principles, with fan engagement and commercial orientation and sustainable growth at the forefront of our successful model.

With Ben Ettridge on board once again for 2019, we continue to hold unwavering belief in the journey we are on, and our people.  The process will take care of the result – this we truly believe in as an organisation.

Our success has been built around stability and growth – and we want to continue to grow in all aspects of what we do.  We value your support and want to ensure that you know that you are backing a team that is playing for you – and is doing everything it can to continuously deliver on the success that you crave.

Following the support and attendance that we have seen this season, the Board has been able to ensure that both our Men’s and Women’s teams are appropriately funded to deliver team success. As a member of the List Management Group, I am confident that we will be able to act quickly and be in a position to announce some high-profile signings over the coming weeks and months – genuinely elite signings that I am sure you will be excited about.

So what can we do together to ensure our success in 2019?  We can grow our membership base so that we can continue to build on the stability and sustainability of the program.

Become a 2019 Wolfpack member, for less than the cost of entry to each home game, and you get a reserved seat through the year – preferred VIP seating allocations if we make a grand final – and exclusive member benefits throughout the year.  By signing up early we can ensure that the Association is fully equipped to support the teams to build a program that delivers results for our Association both on the court and in the community.

Our exciting 2019 membership product will be released shortly, and as invited above, please strongly consider joining – unlocking all the amazing benefits, but most importantly, being a key member of our Pack!

Thank you for the amazing support that we have seen this year – tell the boys that you are proud of their efforts - and let’s get behind both our Wolves teams for 2019 as we look to drive this program somewhere further, somewhere truly special.
