The Chambers Franklyn Joondalup City Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of seasoned Head Coach and 2018 WSBL Semi-Finalist Charles Nix as Women’s SBL Head Coach for the next three seasons.

Nix is widely recognised as one of genuine thought leaders in the game, with an innate ability to build high-quality rosters whilst driving cultural standards in successful teams. These talents were identified as key fundamentals that will support the Wolfpack’s determined rise back to the top of the WSBL standings.

Nix has enjoyed a diverse coaching involvement in WA’s State League, including fulfilling the roles of Men’s Head Coach at Perry Lakes and the Southwest Slammers, and most recently leading the Redbacks women to a 2018 Semi-Final series in his debut as a SBL Women’s program Head Coach.

Notably, Nix was recognised at the 2017 BWA Gala Awards, winning the MSBL Coach of the Year following his leadership of the Slammers program, a significant honour and testament to his ability.

The Wolves are thrilled that Charles (“Nixy”) has recognised the significant opportunity that exists to lead the Lady Wolves, committing to a multi-year deal. But equally, the Wolves are buoyed to be identified as a desirable long-term destination for such an outstanding coach and character.

Wolves CEO Cameron Britt, on behalf of the club’s List Management team, explained that with the program needing a fresh direction, securing Nix on a long-term deal was the first important signature on the path to the sustainable improvement of the club’s female program.

“As a highly successful and experienced Head Coach, Nixy will both attract and retain key female talent at our club, whilst continuing to sustain and grow the incredibly important development pathway of our exciting youth talent that impressed us so much in 2018” Britt said.

“Our intent is to improve rapidly, to again contend, and with Nixy at the helm, supplemented by an appropriate team and resource, our improvement should be swift and compelling” Britt concluded.

Charles Nix sees a strong fit for he and his young family at the club, and bright prospects for his team.

“There’s certainly no hard feelings at my former club, this is simply the best move for me and my family and I am excited about the future and helping to grow the female program at the Wolfpack” Nix said.

With the Charles Nix Wolfpack commencement effective immediate, further personnel announcements and 2019 program information will follow shortly.
