The Wanneroo Basketball Association is thrilled to announce the appointment of highly experienced Basketball Administrator and Coach Andrew Summerville to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Possessing an Associate Diploma in Sports Management from Martin Methodist College in the United States, Summerville recently held the role of Business Manager at the Werribee Basketball Association, where he led the 7,000-member, 12-court facility enterprise. Under his leadership, the Association was named the 2017 Basketball Victoria Association of the Year and the large, multi-million-dollar turnover club grew significantly under his management.

The club’s selection panel were particularly impressed by Andrew’s community-focused approach to building the culture and performance of the settings that he has led, working closely with a variety of stakeholders to grow operations whilst ensuring that the core service delivery of Basketball remains priority.

Summerville comes to the club highly recommended by past Wolfpack member and national level coach Kennedy Kereama, and in a leadership role at the Sunbury Basketball AssociationAndrew was able to grow participation and revenue substantially, developing new programs and Basketball offerings such as Lil Rookies, a Hoops Academy, Hoop Mums and Walking Basketball.

His business acumen and entrepreneurial outlook to managing the game resulted in both Associations being recognised within the top 3 Aussie Hoops participation centres nationally during his tenure.

Alongside the CEO role, he will also take the helm of the Joondalup Wolves Men’s program for the 2020 season.

Summerville’s professional coaching CV is as impressive as it is extensive, inclusive of SEABL, QBL and Big V Head Coaching duties at several notable clubs, NBL Assistant Coaching duties with the Brisbane Bullets, college level experience as Assistant Coach with the University of Toronto and the Martin Methodist College Redhawks, as well as NBA Development coaching experience with the Toronto Raptors.

Supporting Andrew’s coaching experience is extensive expertise in scouting and recruitment, having held the role of Head Scout and Recruiting Coordinator with the University of Tennessee, as well as being the Australian based scout for four US colleges and having previously owned a US college recruitment service.

Andrew’s basketball philosophies are well suited to the Wolfpack Men’s program, and his broad experience in the game in high-quality programs, across several continents, provides the level of knowledge and diversity desired for the role.

“I am really excited about the opportunity to be involved in a fantastic organisation such as the Wanneroo Basketball Association and Joondalup Wolves. The Association has undergone some major change and established itself as a leader in the sport."

"The position the business is in is a testament to the tremendous work that the Board of Directors, outgoing CEO Cameron Britt and all of the WBA staff have done over recent years and I hope to build on this foundation and drive the next phase of growth and performance for the association” Summerville said.

“With new initiatives and programs, the Wolfpack brand will continue to be a pillar in the WA community, and I can’t wait to be a part of that. I look forward to meeting and working with the Association’s members, stakeholders and the entire local community to continue to be the destination of choice for basketball” Summerville concluded.

Andrew will commence with the club in late October and is excited and motivated to meet the broader Wolves community, sharing his knowledge and insights.

Please join the Wanneroo Basketball Association Board in making Andrew very welcome at his new home, the Wolfpack!
