Junior Clubs Put Kids First

Parents play an important role in children’s sporting activities, and while barracking and wanting your child to perform well is human nature, it needs to be done in a responsible manner.

AFL Kids First is a program that guides parents and supporters towards positive behaviour to ensure everyone – particularly children - obtain maximum benefit and enjoyment from their football.

Last night the under 16 Capricornia Cyclones squad was announced to play in the QLD country championships to be held on the 14^th and 15^th of April at the Rockhampton cricket ground’s.

Our boys travelled down to Bundaberg on Friday, playing Wide Bay Tigers Friday evening and Darling Downs Crows Sunday morning. This is the first year that the U’18’s QLD state team is selected through Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions Academies instead of Regional Championships such as this. The Academies allow Talent Development staff to identify, nurture and develop players at a quicker rate.

The AFL today announced that the Gold Coast SUNS will head to the Northern Rivers region and Rockhampton as part of the 2012 Australia Post AFL Community Camps.

The Under 18 Cylones have started training for the upcoming representative games V's Wide Bay and Darling downs in February.

On Friday 23^rd of September 2011, boys from all over North Queensland travelled to Townsville for a Training and Pool session before taking on Sandgate Under16s Football Club, who are the powerhouse of the Brisbane Juniors competition.

Well football is back and hasn't it come around quickly, it only feels like last week that the 2010 season was wrapping up.  For the players and coaches Round 1 of the Trends Interior Carpet and Tile Court Premiership Season probably hasn't come quick enough.
