The Rockampton Panthers could actually find themselves in third position on the ladder after their match against the Gladstone Mudcrabs at the Rockhampton Cricket Ground this Saturday.

This week Australia celebrates National Volunteer Week in acknowledgement of the six million volunteers across the country who willingly donate their time and efforts throughout the year.

Junior footy is back in Rockhampton tonight at the cricket grounds in what is shaping up to be a great season of junior AFL in Rockhampton. Covering three age groups Under 7’s, 9’s and 11s there is bound to be plenty of action.

The Boyne Island/Tannum Sands Saints have been the power house of the league for the past decade. In their past 7 encounters the Saints enjoy a 5 to 2 win ratio over their cross town rivals.Last season the Muddies held the Saints to 2 wins & 2 losses though one of the losses was in front of a record grand final crowd at the Rockhampton Cricket Ground.

All Capricornia Under 16s playing in this weekends practise match against Wide Bay, must fill in this Indemnity Form before playing if you have not yet signed a registration form with your club for 2013.

This weekend the Capricornia U’16 squad will play Wide Bay in a practise match at Kele Park. This will be the first year that the Cap U’16 team plays a practise match before the State Country Carnival in April.

Gold Coast Suns Cup (Open Boys) is shaping up to be a ripper of a competition in 2013 with 5 rounds of footy played between all of Rockhampton and Yeppoon’s major high schools. Last year saw some great footy played from all schools and this year should be no different

PNG Binatangs too strong for Kookaburras

The 2012 AFL Queensland Kooga Under 14 State Championships playoff finals have been decided at the conclusion of day two.

Day one of the AFL Queensland Kooga Under 14 State Championships produced some nail biting games of AFL action on the Sunshine Coast.

Four Under 14 Capricornia Cyclones made the North QueenslandCountry under 14 Kookaburras team that will travel down to the Sunshine Coast and contest the State titles. The championships will be held at Maroochydore in 2 weeks time. Players selected were Josh Redsell (Glenmore Bulls), Reily Raven (Glenmore Bulls), Ben Dempsey Jnr (Gladstone Mudcrabs)and Cory Murphy (BITS)

Over the long weekend the Protector Alsafe under 14 cyclones travelled to Mackay to compete in the Under 14 Queensland Country Championships. The championships were held over the Saturday and Sunday in fine conditions for football.

Hate them or love them, every year the Saints seem to have a well oiled unit on the paddock, you can have as many good players as you like but without well organised coaching, administration and volunteer staff it’s good for nothing, and once again they have hit their straps this year sitting on the top of the table after three rounds.
