Metro West & Metro South Proposed Amalgamation Update

The proposed amalgamation with Metro South is currently at the stage where both Leagues are completing their League's Due Diligence reports.

These reports should be completed by Monday 04th June 2012. (Completed)

A Memorandum of Understanding will be prepared and signed by both Leagues, detailing how we expect the process to continue and who has which responsibilities etc. The Memorandum of Understanding will by signed by 04th July 2012.

A presentation of the due diligence outcome, with recommendations, will be presented to the Metro West Clubs by 04th July 2012. The Clubs will take the recomendations back to their Clubs for a vote.

Metro West Clubs will present their vote on the recommendations at 15th July 2012 meeting. This will be a recommendation put to the members Clubs to pursue or not pursue the amalgamation based on the results of the Due Diligence report.

If the vote is YES: Items like new name, new logo, new Constitution, new rules etc. will need to addressed. The two Leagues will continue to operate as they are while this is being done.

It is hoped that everything will be completed for the NEW League by 30th September 2012.

A special meeting will then be called by both Leagues and a special resolution passed to amalgamate the two Leagues to form a new Association.

The Special meeting will be called for by 31st October 2012 with the intention to have the new League operational soon after (should the resolution be passed).

If the vote is NO: The two Leagues will continue to operate as they currently are.

There will be a major overhaul of MWJFL Rules, Constitution & Fees.

Female Football

Female Football

Female Football in South Australia is going through an exciting growth period. In Adelaide alone we have nine Senior Women’s Clubs; U 18 and U 16 competitions, and all-girls Auskick Centres in place.   There is a Summer Academy for young girls learning the game and a Talent Academy for girls aspiring to play Representative Football.

There is also a Youth Girls Academy located in Mount Gambier. We now have a female representative pathway which includes U16 School girls, U18 Youth Girls and Open Women who participate annually in National Championships. Two U16 girls from the Port Adelaide Women’s Football Club have been selected to play in Australian Youth Girls team to play in New Zealand in October 2013. It is the intention of the AFL to have a National Televised Women’s League by 2020.

To assist in the development of female football an under 16 girls competition needs to be established in the Western Metropolitan area similar to the one existing in the NEMJFA.
