2010 Season to Start with Blockbuster Round 1
The Bendigo Bank Central Highlands F.L. has announced some changes to the structure of the fixture for the 2010 season that are sure to add interest in round 1. Clubs have been matched up according to the position they finished on the ladder in 2009, providing some tantalising first up matches.
2009 Premiers Daylesford will travel down the hill to neighbouring Hepburn. After the two 2009 finals encounters separating the two clubs by just six points this first up encounter has already got keen CHFL followers excited.
All other matches in round 1 shape as great contests which will be used by clubs to determine how they match up against those closest in ladder positions from last season.
Questions such as how much have we improved may be able to be answered after this blockbuster start.
Another big change is the addition of an extra round of competition taking the season out to 18 rounds enabling all clubs to enjoy nine home games in 2010.
This change will bring the start of the season forward one week to Saturday 10th April. The grand final will remain on the traditional second Saturday of September, Saturday 11th September.
The fixture also retains the now welcomed break on the Queens Birthday Weekend June 12th.
