Geelong opened up a good break in the first quarter and had a handy 21-point lead at the first break. The pressure in the first term was on both sides as the commitment for the ball was a delight to see from these young players.
It was Geelong to lead the way again in the second period extend their lead, North Central had put the ball forward on many occasions in this quarter and were looking better but were just not able to convert their opportunities but their attack on the ball was encouraging and at the main break they trailed by 27-points.
Kicking the first goal for the third term gave the North Central boys some encouragement but this kick started the Geelong side as they went on to outscore us and adding a further four goals to our one in the quarter to give them a 42-point lead at the last change. North Central were giving their best and there were some very encouraging
passages of play in the opening three quarters from these young players which shows that our development work is benefiting our junior ranks for the future.
Our last quarter effort was to match it with the Geelong side and we were able to restrict their flow on style of football and keep them to just the two goals for the final term and our side was also able to post two goals in the final period to halt what may have been a blowout but the proudness of the group prevented that happening and the North Central side can be proud of their effort. While they may have been defeated the experience they would have gained from being part of the Representative team will benefit them in their future football and to their local clubs when they resume next week. Well done to all the coaching staff and players on your conduct over the interleague program, you make those associated with your clubs proud of your commitment to be part of our annual representative games.
Final scores Geelong & District 12-10=82 def North Central 5-6=36
