Bulls nip Rangers in OT as WU nails 2nd win

Displaying composure in the dying seconds of the game, the rampaging Ilocandia Bulls won over a tough MJ Rangers, 80-75 in overtime as runner-up Western Union bested Surangel and Sons for their second win in the 2012 season of the Filipino Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

Down 67-69 with 4 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Raul Osias came to the rescue for the Ilocandia Bulls as he scored on a follow up to tie the game at 69-all and send the game into over time.

In the extra period, the Bulls did not waste precious time as they outscored the Rangers with an 11-6 run to score the win and sport a 2-1 win-loss record in the team standings. Osias finished with 32 points while Nico Hinoza topscored for the Rangers with 19 on the losing end as they are now 1-2.

On the other hand, Western Union nailed its second straight win at the expense of Surangel and Sons, 75-54. Dennis Castro paced Western Union with 22 markers while Arnold Undecimo led Surangel and Sons with 13.

The win placed Western Union at 2-0 while Surangel and Sons are 1-2.

In other games, team Jaguar defeated Hanpa Cardinals, 76-63 while Ocean View/PCGM bested FR Spoilers, 97-67 in the master’s league.

Games will resume on April 1 with D’Originals versus 9-Ball at 11 a.m. for the master’s league followed by the FR Spoilers-Hanpa Cardinals tussle at 12:30 p.m. as Western Union will test the Jaguar at 2 p.m. while Rams/Guardians will meet Surangel and Sons in the main game at 3:30 p.m.  By Peter Erick L.
