Surangel and Sons humble Ilocandia Bulls, 109-100

Despite the confusion on the schedules, Surangel and Sons showed determination in the crucial minutes of the game as they humbled the Ilocandia Bulls, 109-100 Sunday in the ongoing 2012 season of the Filipino Basketball League resumes at the Palau National gym.

Down 55-45 at the end of the first half, Surangel and Sons led by the troika Arnold Undencimo, Gener Aguinaldo and Bong Gayongorsa outscored the Bulls in the third canto with a 31-22 output as they cut the lead at 77-76.

Surangel and Sons then went for the kill in the final quarter as Undencimo took charge of the scoring chores with Aguinaldo snipping from beyond the three point line as they grabbed the lead at 100-97 with less than two minutes left in the game. From there, Surangel and Sons never looked back as they went all the way to score the win.

Undencimo topscored for Surangel and Sons with 43 points as Aguinaldo added 18 as they improved their standing with 4-2 win-loss record. Joeger Supnet kept the scoring chores for the Bulls as he finished with 30 baskets on the losing end as they slipped to 3-3.

In other games, FR Spoilers won over team Choppers, 118-77; MJ Rangers downed the Jaguars, 78-61; and 9Ball Friendsters bested D’Originals, 73-68.

Games will resume on May 20 with the Ilocandia Bulls versus Rams/Guardians at 11 a.m. followed by the Western Union-Choppers tussle at 12:30 p.m. as Surangel and Sons will meet Hanpa Cardinals at 2 p.m. while FR Spoilers will face MJ Rangers in the main game at 3:30 p.m.   By Peter Erick L.
