Surangel Stars scored their first win at the expense of team Jaguars, 89-61 Sunday in the 2013 season of the Filipino Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

After taking a 28-18 lead in the opening canto, Surangel Stars went all the way to take the win and barge into the winning column with a 1-0 win-loss record. Boy Tabaquero led the scoring chores for Surangel Stars with 16 as Budz Pabro paced the Jaguars with 11 on the losing end.

In other games, Ilocandia Bulls bested PNQ Rams, 90-70; Nationals defeated PRA Choppers, 100-88; and FR Spoilers drubbed Liquid Sky, 150-79.

Games will resume on March 24 with the Ilocandia Bulls versus the RP Rangers at 11 a.m. followed by the Nationals-Hanpa Cardinals tussle at 12:30 p.m. Surangel Stars will then test PNQ Rams at 2 p.m. while PRA Choppers will meet Western Union in the main game at 3:30 p.m.

A total of 10 teams are seeing action this year namely defending champion FR Spoilers, Rangers, Surangel and Sons, Ilocandia Bulls, PRA Choppers, Hanpa Cardinals, Rams, Western Union, Jaguars and newcomer Liquid Sky with Nationals 19 and under squad as guest team.

Games are supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). This year’s FBL League is supported by ATT Bar and Restaurant, HE Automotive, Palasia Hotel, Palau Royal Resort, FR Construction, Engrs.
