Rivals close series as Stingers level theirs in IP&E ABL Playoffs
Team Ngermid Rivals move on to the next round of the playoffs as they close down their best of three series while Neco Marine Stingers live to fight another day as they fend of their opponent in the ongoing IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.
The Rivals showed they are a team to watch in the playoff round as they beat PCC Mesekiu in Game Two, 97-86 and close their series with a 2-0 count. The Rivals established a 23-10 lead in the opening quarter and then extended their dominance as they closed the first half with a 45-30 advantage.
From there, the Rivals held on as they smoothly close their assignment with a win. Elway and King Ngiraboi finished the game with identical 29 points for the Rivals while Christopher and Shonty Ubedei topscored for PCC Mesekiu with identical 13 markers on the losing end.
On the other hand, Neco Marine Stingers will get to live to fight for another day as they managed to level their own series besting the Ngerchemai Ranchers, 89-85 in Game Two Wednesday night.
With the win, the series now stands at 1-1. Lovelynson Wally carried the load for the Stingers as he normed 18 baskets while Mike Williams finished the game with a career high 54 baskets.
In other games, Hanpa Cardinals beat Raw Surf, 105-93; Meyuns Red Storm stun Matakui, 66-59; Breakers beat Papago Smooth, 82-75; Ngaraard Red Torch defeated Lawmen PEAC, 82-71; Melngoes outscored Ngiwal 79ers, 86-72; and Ikelauans outclassed Ididers, 105-101.
Teams are reminded to use their uniform in every game. The jersey/t-shirts should match with the shorts and their numbers. Teams will be charged $25 for failure to comply and will be defaulted.
Teams this season, teams are divided into two pools. Pool A will have Papago Smooth, Ngarchelong Blue Shark, Ngaraard Red Torch, Hanpa Cardinals, Surangel Kings, Meyuns Red Storm, Melngoes, Ranchers, Ididers and Ngermid Rivals. Pool B will be composed of MEDA Boys, Matakui, Idid 4x4 Wheelers, Ikelauans, Stingers, Lawmen PEAC, Raw Surf, Breakers, Airwaves and PCC Mesekiu.
