Men’s basketball undefeated in elimination round

Palau men’s basketball squad is on high spirits as they finished the elimination round with an undefeated record in the ongoing 8th Micronesian Games held in Pohnpei.

The men’s team first beat CNMI, 91-64 and then went on to beat a hard fighting Chuuk squad, 62-60. They took a much need rest and then continued their winning run as the bested Nauru, 107-60 last Thursday night.

The men’s team continued their rampage as they hacked Pohnpei, 72-65 last Friday. In Saturday’s match, Palau drubbed Yap, 119-67.

Palau is hoping to barge their way into the gold medal round as they lead in Pool 1. Pool 2 is composed of Guam, RMI, Kosrae and Yap.

In the distaff side, Palau drubbed Nauru, 75-32 before they bowed to their counterparts from Guam via 79-46.

Palau bowed to RMI, 37-65 last Thursday but managed to bounce back as they bested CNMI, 43-38 Friday night. Then, Palau lost to Pohnpei,49-50 Saturday night.

However, the women’s team pulled a 75-39 win over Chuuk making them still alive for a medal round stint. By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
