Thurgoona Oval, located on Table Top Road, is a four hectare site which provides sporting facilities for local residents, the current user groups (Thurgoona Football and Netball Club, Cricket Albury Wodonga and Hume League Cricket), educational facilities and the general community. The total land associated with the oval is 7.1 hectares with the balance of the land having a grazing licence. The land is crown land, with AlburyCity acting as Trustee, and is zoned open space in the Albury Local Environment Plan 2000.
In 2006 the committee of the Thurgoona Football Club expressed a desire to improve the facilities at the Oval. The club convened meeting with all the local user groups, and Albury City representatives to discuss options and develop a long term plan for the upgrade.
The Thurgoona Oval Master Plan was endorsed at the November 2008 Council Meeting. The plan aims to improve facilities for the user groups and the general community. Priorities which have been identified include:
- Extending the ground to at least 150m in length.
- Relocating the netball courts to the eastern side of the complex.
- Construction of a new Clubrooms.
- Upgrade of ground lighting
- New change rooms/amenities
- BBQ Area & Playground
