Stage 4 of the Master Plan may be upgrading the Ground Lighting to enable adequate night training, and possible night games down the track. Existing lighting at the ground is inadequate, with 3 towers servicing only the eastern side of the ground. This contributes to excessive wear on one side of the ground, as most training is restricted to that side. The 3 light towers are too small to carry any possible upgrade.
Planning is currently being undertaken. It is envisaged that 6 new light towers of approx 30m would initially provide lighting to Club Competition level of 100 lux, being fully upgradeable to 200 lux if need be.
The timing of the completion of this stage will depend on funding from various sources, but would hope 1-3 years.
If you would like a crash course in Sports Lighting, below is an excellent report commissioned by the Victorian State Government in 2008, which explains lighting options for football and netball arenas in detail.
