Football:
Paynesville got itself back on the winners’ list after going down to the Seagulls last week, knocking off reigning premier Lindenow at Paynesville.
It was a neck-and-neck contest all afternoon, with the Gulls coming out 10-point winners.
The Gulls led the whole way through with only points separating at each break, until the third quarter where Lindenow was up by nine.
But Paynesville ran rampant in the last, a four-goal to one final term ensuring the Gulls remain a win clear of all comers. Adrian Gibbs snagged three majors for the Gulls and Bairnsdale-listed player Jordan Farquhar was named best afield, with Brendan Gallus, Cameron, Brayden Radford, Jason McCloy and youngster Ryan Holland also doing well.
For the Cats, who are considerably off the pace after five rounds, Matt Baylis kicked three and Paul Gould was best.
Netball:
A high scoring game at Paynesville has seen the Gulls slot into fourth position on the ladder with victory over Lindenow.
The first quarter between Paynesville and Lindenow was very even with the Gulls taking a two-goal lead at quarter time before pulling away in the second.
It was a very well contested match between both sides, however the Gulls were able to remain steady in the clinches and hold on to a 10-goal win (50-40) led by Tammy Hill, Sharna Haliday and Sarah Damon.
