This year AFL Townsville will host a game that acknowledges the ANZAC spirit and the significant contribution the Defence Force make to our Nation, our City and our local sporting community, in particular that of AFL, when local rivals the Hermit Park Tigers and Curra Swans meet in the inaugural ANZAC Clash at Tony Ireland Stadium on Anzac Day eve (Wednesday April 24). Local football enthusiasts and sports fans in general are being encouraged to get along to support our local military personnel in what should be a great matchup between two unbeaten teams this season.
The action kicks off at 6pm with the reserves game, followed by a traditional ANZAC ceremony at 7.40pm that leads into main game at 8pm.
Full canteen and bar services will be operating and gate entry is $6 for adults and children under 16 are free. Gates open at 4pm.
