Hi all,
Season 2017 is now in full swing and the committee started pre-season some months ago, working on administration, Sponsors, Coaches the draw just to mention a few.
This year we will, once again be the Tacking Point Tavern Magpies.
As our Major sponsor, The Tacking Point Tavern have been very generous with their sponsorship dollars and have, ‘by Far’ out bid a good offer from another source and we now need to repay their generosity by supporting them. They are a part of the Tap House Group which own many pubs around the East coast and growing. The existing card system has now obsoleteand the new system that is in place works at all venues which means we can accumulate points at any of their venues and we get the $$ value to the club.
TPT is undergoing renovations during the year however we will have the Town Green Inn, The Port Macquarie Hotel and possibly “The beach House” at our disposal.
We have worked hard on this draw this year with tough negotiations with the league which I thought were going nowhere however, sometimes they can surprise you.
I have just received a draft of the draw for the year and it looks good, as requested, eight (8) home games and two (2) overnight stays at both Ballina and Byron Bay in which we will play both games under lights, This year we decided to not to meet clubs halve way with long trips because we lose a home game every time we do, so we will see how that goes, as we need to support them. A copy of the draw will be circulated once it has been finalised.
Coaches for the year are Anthony Beasley for the senior group, Ged Byrne, Greg King and Craig Brambley for the under 18’s and we still require a reserves coach.
I thank Ged, Craig and Greg for stepping up to the 18s roll.
We still require Players to all grades and we need every body to be proactive in spreading the word and getting new recruits.
Practice matches this year will be against Warner’s Bay and Killarney Vale on the 18th of March, venue to be announced soon. All players need to be fit and game ready, we also be entertaining both sides as they are staying over so clear your calendar and we will do something for dinner.
There will be no raffles this year at Tacking Point Tavern. The raffles on Thursday night have been a pain, as no one wants to do them, however they did bring in about 5k each year, that kind of short fall in dollars means we need to tighten belts and get behind local raffles on each game day.
Rego is $160.00 for the year and that includes presentation night, Payment is required by the end of April so start putting a bit away each week, those wanting to pay a bit more due to the extremely low cost can call me directly
That all for the moment.
Bring on 2017
