After many AFL rep training nights; Erol became familiar with coaches Nick Stanton, Tony Harmer, & Craig Smith (ex-Richmond player with 80 premier games experience). The Sertbas family will soon move into the Forest area & so Erol had many reasons to join the Forest Lions in 2009. Having seen Erol play over the past 2 years, (he was best on ground against the U12 Lions in their loss in the 2007 Grand Final) his recruiting will hopefully help Forest once again figure prominently in the finals this year.
Erol is a relative newcomer to AFL ranks; having only started AFL midway through 2007, because a mate said to come & have a kick. He started in Division 2, and played there for a few weeks; where he dominated; before being elevated to Division 1 (& was best on ground as mentioned previously, in the Div 1 GF against Forest).
The following year, Erol was selected in the Sydney North Representative Team, and from the rep games he was selected for the Sydney "Starz" team (where he met fellow Forest players, Mitch, Jordan, Jackson & Matt V). Erol was also 2nd runner up, Best & Fairest, in the Sydney North U13 Div 1 competition for 2008.
After a very successful State Carnival Erol was rewarded with selection in the Under 14s NSW/ACT State Academy for 2009 - a huge effort. He was very recently selected in the U15s Northern NSW Combined High Schools team and will now compete at the U15s NSW State titles in Coffs Harbour in June.
Forest are very happy to have him with us this year, and wish Erol all the best for the season ahead. We also welcome his family to the club and the Forest community.
