Elimination Final
North Shore has bowed out of the race for the 2008 Sydney AFL Premiership suffering a 50 point loss to the East Coast Eagles at Henson Park today. The Eagles were too good on the day but North Shore has much to be proud from a season that looked all but gone after the first five rounds. The Eagles jumped out of the blocks early in the first quarter kicking five unanswered goals before the Bombers steadied and got their first through Ben Attwood. North Shore then managed to kick another five goals in a great fightback that saw them go into the quarter time break only 3 points down. In the second quarter, the Eagles got another break away heading into the half time break with a 4 goal lead. Adam Lord, Lachlan Pryor and Brendan Fitzgerald were performing well for the Bombers but the North Shore backline were unable to stop the stream of opportunities being presented to the Eagles forwards. In the third quarter the lead remained the same but the Bombers seemed to be gaining some momentum with Adam Nicks marking strongly up forward and Nick Egan starting to find the ball up forward. At three quarter time the Bombers were still a chance but needed a big last quarter. The Bombers started the quarter well but the momentum was with the Eagles and they finished off the game and the season for North Shore. The game ended with the Bomber players chairing captain Mark Livy from the ground following his retirement after the game. North Shore’s finals hope now rest with the North Shore Bombers Under 18 Premier Cup side that will play in the 2nd Semi Final this Saturday at North Dalton Park, Wollongong against the East Coast Eagles. The winner of that game will secure a place in the 2008 U18 Premier Cup Grand Final.
