 KICK OFF PROGRAM FOR 3-4 YEAR OLD GIRLS & BOYS

This is our 7th season of program at the wildcats. We run a very successful program with bumper numbers each year that even the association marvel at.
It is for children who have turned 3 or 4 by 27th April. It will run for the 10 weeks of the season, commencing Saturday 27th April (School term 2) at 10.45am at Miller Park each week. (45 min program)
This program is 'game day' only each Saturday there is no training mid week. It is fun based activities with a soccer ball. Kick Off players will be split into 3 year olds & 4 year olds as well as boys & girls groups.
Benefits of  MiniRoos Kick Off
  • Fun, football game-based sessions that build fundamental motor skills;
  • Non-competitive activities to improve confidence and self-esteem
  • Low participant-to-coach ratio resulting in greater individual engagement;
  • Experience the football basics
  • Merchandise packs for new participants, including backpack, ball, drink bottle + more
  • no uniforms are required -just shin pads, boots or joggers, a water bottle, hat)

Under 5-11's
This program is known as our Mini Roos. Teams play with varying ball sizes & fields with limited rules & varying numbers on teams

Under 5, Under 6s & Under 7s:  We do register Under 5s in the Under 6s teams or will have a seperate under 5s comp if there are enough registrations. Anyone turning 5 in 2024 is eligible to play. Keep in mind this program is far more structured with your own coach on the field on game days as well as a weekly training session that these children need to be able to listen and follow instructions.
We would suggest if you havnt turned 5 before April to look at the Mini Roos Kick off Program however anyone already 5 we would encourage to join the Under 5/6s Mini Roo's if you feel your child is ready, otherwise pop them in the 3&4s for this season.

As Under 6s & Under 7s mixed teams will play every game at Miller Park at 9 am & 10am this year (no travelling pending team numbers) & train every Wednesday, usually Under 5 & 6s 4-5pm, Under 7s 5-6pm -where possible. (If that is impossible please note this in rego questions/preferences otherwise we will shuffle team members accordingly on meet your team day).
Under 6s & Under 7s Girls only teams will need to travel within the Hunter Valley area & may have games each second week an Maitland, Lochinvar, Cessnock etc

U8-11s will play at Miller Park every second week & travel around the Hunter Valley area every other week.
Games are usually 9-12pm at most clubs.

Training for 8-9's will be Wednesday 5-6 (where possible).
Training for 10-11s preferably monday or Wednesdays 5-6pm.

Under 6-9s  train on Wednesdays, so coaches will have access to  our GBFC Club Coaching Co-Ordinators for overall improved football skills throughout all teams.
Training on the same day also gives teams the ability to have a practice game with other teams.
Teams may also be invited to join age group training sessions through out the season which are easier to coordinate if everyone trains on the same day.

 Please read the game rules at the botton of this page

Under 12-18s
These are our club competition teams who play competition football. We have had a great deal of success over the last few seasons with teams winning premierships & playing really good football with the help of our clubs pholosophy.
Age groups will be graded by the club if there is more than 1 teams worth of any one age. This has greatly strengthened the position of our club in competitions by doing so & puts similar abilitied kids together who all enjoy their experience more.
Teams are mixed , however girls teams may be formed if we have enough interested players. Girls teams do play their comp on Sundays.
Due to the size of our township we sometimes dont fill certain age groups and will join 2 age groups together. This has been very successful over the last few seasons with many of these teams even winning their grand finals.
Teams are encouraged to train twice a week - usually Tuesdays & Thrusdays. Most games will vary in time for the age groups but often be 9, 10, 11am & 12pm kick offs.
Teams play every second week at Miller Park & alternate weeks at Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie & Newcastle grounds - often playing away games at grounds such as Edgeworth or Maitland but occasionally have grounds as far as Morrisset, Kahibah & Tilligary.

Wet Weather: Games are only cancelled or posponed when it is unsafe to play for players from Under 6s right through to Seniors. Cancellations at Miller Park can be found on the Greta Branxton Club 'TEAM APP' as well as our facebook page. (Coaches & Managers may also be text by the club secretary)

If miller park is closed for training due to wet weather again you will hear this info on the 'Team App'
