James Wright recieves EFNL Life Membership
Surrey Park Football Club’s James Wright ran out for game 300 in May of this year, in what has been one of the most unique and challenging of football journeys. The EFNL decided to formally recognise Jimmy's contribution to Surrey, the EFNL and footy in general by awarding him Life membership at the end of the 2019 season.

Under 19 Information Night
Under 19 Players are invited to Surrey Park 7.30pm Wednesday 16th October to meet the coaching team and hear about our plans for 2020. Players from this years under 19's, as well as Under 17 players transitioning to Under 19's in 2020 are invited, along with all new players.

Chops Langkau to coach Under 19's in 2020
Surrey Park is excited to announce that Chris "Chops" Langkau has been reappointed as Under 19 Coach for 2020. Having taken the under 19's to the last two grand finals, including EFL Division One this year, Chops has been instrumental in preparing our young players for senior footy.

Joe McCarthy Confirmed as Women's Coach in 2020
We are thrilled to announce Joe McCarthy as Senior Women's Coach. Joe is well known to the Surrey Park faithful, having coached both Junior Girls Football, as well as Colts (boys under 17’s) in recent years. Joe will foster the sense of community at the club and a key focus will be skill development as our girl’s transition into senior footy.

David Jensen to Coach Surrey Park Men's in 2020
Surrey Park welcome's David Jensen as Senior Men's Coach (pictured top). David’s most recent coaching role was at Ringwood where he was Development Coach in 2019, prior to that he held the same role at Doveton FNC (in the SEFNL). David has a long background in junior development at club and inter-league level, and his playing career spanned many years at Greensborough (NFL) and Mulgrave (EFL)

The Surrey Park Football Club AGM will be held Monday 14th October 2019 at Surrey Park.
All members, supporters, players and their families are encouraged to attend this important event.
As usual, all positions will be vacated, with the following roles requiring a new face in 2020:

Lyle Ladlow Medallist - Damien Frisina
Congratulations to Damien Frisina, awarded the Lyle Ladlow Meal for Surrey Parks Best & Fairest Player in the First XVIII for 2019.
Damien joined the club this year and made an immediate impact in the mid-field and up forward where he kicked nine goals. Named in Surrey's best 13 times, he was also named in the EFL Division Four Team of the Year.

Congratulations to Zach Tempany, awarded Surrey Park Football Club's Most Improved player for 2019.
It was great to see Zach able to maintain his fitness throughout the course of the year, which translated into an awesome year down back, regularly negating the opposition best forwards.

Senior XVIII Coaches Award for 2019
Congratulations to Nick Snibson, for taking out the 2019 Coaches Award at last Saturday nights Lyle Ladlow Medal Night.
Nick has been a wonderful contributor to the club over the past two years, rarely misses a training session even when injured and is a great bloke to have around the club. Well done Snibbo!

Reserves Best & Fairest 2019
Congratulations to Tom Ross for taking out the Surrey Park Reserves Best & Fairest Award for 2019.
Tom has now won all three senior cub awards - the Under 19 B&F, the Senior B&F and now the Reserves B&F this year.
Tom is a life-long Surrey Park player, having started with the Under 9's all those years ago.
Congratulations also to Runners-Up Zach Moore and Ryan Higgins on their outstanding season

Reserves Coaches Award 2019
Congratulations to Alex Smith, recipient of the Coaches Award for 2019. We were so happy to have Alex part of our club in our Premiership Year.
Alex always put in 100% and was always prepared to help out around the club whenever he was needed.
Having played 42 games for the club, we look forward to seeing Alex further develop as a small forward in 2020.

Under 19 Best & Fairest Award 2019
Congratulations to Chris Tsatas for taking out the Surrey Park Under 19 Best & Fairest Award for 2019. Chris played many roles for the team this season, including up forward where he slotted 27 goals. Chris is an exciting talent who will no doubt play great footy in the years to come. Congratulations also to Runner Up Steven Pahnis on a wonderful season as a key defender.

Cam McCasker names Club Captain for 2019
Surrey Park is thrilled to announce the appointment of Cam McCasker as Club Captain for 2019. Having played all his junior football at Surrey, Cam then experienced a high standard of football in the VAFA and at VFL, returning to Surrey in 2017. Cam will be supported by vice captains Dan Smart and Matt Dompietro.

Harry Cook to lead Surrey Park Reserves in 2019
Congratulations to Harry Cook in being appointed Captain of the Surrey Park Reserves in 2019. Harry has played 149 games for Surrey since starting in the Colts in 2010. Harry leads a young team hungry for success and we wish him well in the season ahead.
Harry will be supported by Josh Reid, a past B&F winner returning to the club after a year off travelling the world!

Sam Naidu named Under 19 Captain for 2019
Congratulations to Sam Naidu in being appointed Under 19 Captain for 2019. Sam started at Surrey in the under 10's and has played 116 games for Surrey. We know Sam will lead the team extremely well in Surrey Park Under 19's inaugural season in EFL Division 1

Ngong Arou Under 19 Div 4 EFL Medalist
Congratulations to Ngong for taking out this years Division Four EFL Best & Fairest Award. In his first year as an Under 19 player, Ngong polled 41 votes (out of a possible 54) to take the medal by a whopping 26 votes ahead of the runner up. A product of the Surrey Park Junior Club, so we are sure he'll be running out in the 'Ones' in the not too distant future.

2018 Lyle Ladlow Medalist is Kane 'Sugar' Henden
Congratulations to Kane Henden for taking out the 2018 Lyle Ladlow Medal is the Senior Best & Fairest Player for the Senior team for 2018. Sugar polled 45 votes, just two ahead of Runner Up Chris Smith. Congratulations to both on a wonderful season. The Top 10 placings were:

Jon Barker Best Club Person Award 2018
The Surrey Park Football Club has named the Best Club Person Award in honor of Jon Barker, former Vice President of SPFC and a tireless worker for the club over a number of years. Jon lost his battle with cancer in 2018, so the committee felt it fitting to memorialize Jon's name at the club through this award. Marina Barker was on hand to present the award to the inaugural winner David Garvin.

Callum Ternes takes out Surrey Park Most Improved in 2018
Callum Ternes was a popular choice for Most Improved Player for 2018. After taking 2017 off, Cal returned to the club and played a number of reserves games fore making his senior debut, going on to play eight senior matches this year.He played 10 reserves games, including two finals where his height and agility was a key asset. We look forward to Cal continuing his improvement in 2019.

This weekend the Under 19’s take on Whitehorse/South Croydon in the Grand Final at 9.30am tomorrow (Saturday) at Mitcham Reserve. We had a great come-from-behind win against them two weeks ago, so we know we’ll be in for a tough game.

The under 19’s continued on their winning way last week with a comfortable 60 point win over Silvan who are considered contenders for the premiership we hope the under 19s can win. In the game Harrison Alexander potentially the most dominant small forward presence seen in the realms of u19 football snagged 5 big ones while Ngong Arou yet again dominated from the midfield.

It was great to have the senior team breakthrough for their first win of the season last week up at Silvan, and what a win it was! Last week it was another mixed bag for Surrey Park in regard to results.
The 19s despite a very sub-par first half, managed to kick away in the last quarter and had a 78 to 44 win against East Burwood. This makes them four wins from four games, being the only undefeated team in their competition.

Annual General Meeting
The AGM will be held on Monday 16th at 7.30pm, up at the club rooms. All committee roles are vacated annually so this is your opportunity to help shape the future of your club – whether through your own nomination or helping decide who holds the key committee roles for 2018. A great indicator of the health of a club is the number of attendees at the AGM.

Congratulations to Thomas 'Mango' Spangaro for taking out the EFL Division Four Under 19's Best & Fairest Player for 2017. In his first season at the club, this is a brilliant recognition of a great player. Tom has again committed to Surrey for season 2018 we're he'll make a great impression in our senior side in the years to come.

Johns' Triple Treat!
Congratulations to Graeme Johns for taking the Lyle Ladlow Medal as the Surrey Park Senior Best & Fairest player in 2017. In his third season at the club, Graeme has made a clean sweep of the award each year, making this year the 'three-peat'. Johnsy has been huge for the club - kicking close to 200 goals across the three seasons and proving a massive focal point up forward for our midfield.

Josh Reid Salutes
Congratulations to Josh Reid for taking out the Surrey Park Reserves Best & Fairest for 2017.
Josh has been a fantastic player for the club since the under 17's and his consistency this year was one of the reasons that his side was able to push through to finals for the first time in a number of years. Josh can build on this season and continue to push for senior selection next year.

Grand Final Week at Surrey Park
What a fantastic week for the club with the under 19’s winning their way through to the 2017 grand final this Saturday, with a strong win over Vermont in the preliminary final. This will be the first grand final a team from the senior club has participated in since 2004.

Semi-Final Weekend
Finals are in full swing this weekend with three junior teams competing in grand finals this Sunday, under 16 girls, under 13 boys and under 12 girls, whilst from the senior club the under 19’s play in the second semi-final on Saturday and the reserves play in the first semi-final on Sunday.

The final home and away game this week has all three Surrey Park senior club sides at home taking on the Glen Waverley Hawks. The junior club has three teams competing in preliminary finals this Sunday, and we’re hoping they all get through to next week’s grand finals!

Another week rolls through and for the second week in a row senior action is at Surrey Park this weekend when the senior and reserve sides take on local rival Forest Hill while the under 19’s are up against division three side Templestowe at Templestowe. The junior club enters the last round with many teams either locked in or their finals place dependent on a win!

A huge day last Saturday both on and off field at Surrey Park, with all three teams recording great wins and the club celebrating women in sport with the annual Ladies Lunch filling the rooms for the day. This week the junior sides start to see the finish line with just three rounds to go before finals.

300 Games for Sloane Willing
A big call out to Surrey Park Life Member Sloane Willing who runs out in his 300th senior match tomorrow. It’s a huge occasion for any player to pass such a milestone, but to do it with one club shows the character of Sloane and the loyalty he has shown the club, through both the good and no so good times. Try and get down to the ground before he runs out at just before midday to cheer him on.

This week the senior club returns to Surrey Park for the first time in a while to take on local rival (and top side) Whitehorse Pioneers whilst the junior club heads into Round Ten action both at home and away. Coaching Appointments Finalised for 2017

Season Wrap
The last Surrey Park Senior Footy Club game for 2016 was completed last weekend when the Under 19’s went down to Forest Hill Eagles in the First Semi-Final, 8.10.58 to 6.6.42. Semi-Finals
Well Round 18 – the final round of the Home & Away is done and dusted but the season is not over for the Under 19’s, who finished fourth on the ladder and take on Forest Hill Eagles this Sunday in the First Semi-Final. The Senior and Reserve teams, after recording ten and eight wins respectively for the year, now take a break and look forward to building on this in 2017.

Well, the bad news from last week was that the Senior Team, in a must-win game only managed to kick five goals for the afternoon…the good news however that they were able to keep the Eastern Lions to just four goals to come away with a 10-point win that keeps us just a few percentage points behind fourth-placed Glen Waverley.

A great effort from the Senior XVIII last Saturday against the undefeated Ferntree Gully, only to fall short by 11 points at the final siren. The game was pretty willing with not more than two goals separating the two sides all day. Round 12 Preview
A couple of good wins last week at Home versus Coldstream.
The 19’s had the bye so the day started off with the Two’s recording a 94 point win to make it three wins from the last four games. Nick Coad kicked four and Blake Mios three, while youngsters James Marshall and Ozzie Anderson were amongst our best in their first open age game!

Round Eight Preview
Both Senior and Reserves sides proved last week that you need to work for four quarters of football to take the four points. Both of our sides had opportunities to take the win but we were unable to convert our chances. Our best was Michael Paolini in the ‘Ones’, who took out the Surrey Barbers Player of the Day and his sponsor, Morris Paolini scored $50 as part of our players sponsors package.

Round Seven Preview
Six rounds in and we find the Seniors 3-3, the Reserves 1-5 and the 19’s 3-3. The next three weeks will tell us a lot about how the rest of our season will unfold across all three grades.
Last Saturday we travelled out to Ferntree Gully – which by the way means our three longest road trips (there, Coldstream and Kilsyth) are done and dusted for the year!

Round Six Under 19's Report
Kicking with the wind, the U19s took some time to adjust to the conditions with many of their early kicks going straight to the opposition. It took most of the quarter before an intercept mark by James Marshall led to a shot by Henry Coglan and our only score for the quarter.

Footy returns to Surrey Park this Saturday, with perfect footy weather and a game against local rivals Whitehorse Pioneers, we are expecting another huge crowd and another very tight Senior game.
Of course the day kicks off at 10.00am when the Under 19’s take on Blackburn Pioneers, followed by the Reserves at midday versus Whitehorse Pioneers then the main game at 2.10.

Round Four Under 19's Report
By winning, the Under 19s had the opportunity to replace Kilsyth as 3rd on the ladder. Surrey Park were kicking against the wind in the first quarter but a steady beginning and a determined defensive effort restricted the opposition to just one goal one behind, which we thanks to some great work from Dan Smart, Oliver Anderson and Jimmy Marshall who scored our only goal for the quarter.

Round Four Preview
Well what a day at Surrey Park last Saturday, perfect footy weather, a huge crowd and a very tight Senior game that unfortunately saw Surrey Park fall just short of Donvale at the final siren, 12.8.80 to 9.17.71. Whilst bad kicking is bad football there was plenty to like about the way the boys went about the game and there is plenty of upside as we move through the season.

Under 19 First Semi Final
Surrey Park Under 19’s headed out to Walker Reserve at Mitcham to take on Forest Hill Eagles in the first semi-final.

Sloane Willing - 300 Games
Sloane Willing lines up to play his 300th game this weekend. Sloane played 14 games for Waverley in 1995 before crossing to Surrey in 96 as a young, quick spring heeled lad with a full head of hair.
The only thing that remains is that he still plays for Surrey!

Round Three Wrap
This week we were again at home, this time up against Forest Hill / Vermont in the 19’s and Nunawading for the Senior and Reserve games.
Being played on ANZAC Day, the game was especially significant as we remembered those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Country.

The Surrey Park Players Sponsors prizes kicked off this week, with the sponsor of the first goal kicker in the Senior Game, the 'Presidents Award' and the best afield in the Reserves and Seniors all up for great prizes. Well we headed out to Ferntree Gully on Saturday to in our much anticipated First Round Clash.
With bright sunshine not only did we have to counter the 'Gully' boys but also keeping enough sunscreen on to avoid sunburn!
