NOOSA AFC INC.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT 2011
2011 WOW what a year!
January marked the start, with our quest to win back to back premierships for the Noosa Tigers.
A goal was set by coaches, players and committee, but we all know talking about it is one thing, making it happen is another.
Our first step was to employ coaches for seniors, reserves, 3rds and 18s.
The committee was very happy to have our senior premiership coach from 2010, Wayne Fletcher, reappointed and the added bonus was being able to get two fantastic assistants in Ian O’Dwyer and Danny O’Brien (stepping up from the U18s). Jason Sherriff was also reappointed as reserves coach; this showing the confidence the club had in its 2010 coaching staff. Fortunately we had Glenn Ellis eager and willing to take on the 3rd Division.
The executive decided it was essential for the club’s future that we sought a highly qualified coach for our 18s team. We were thrilled with the appointment of Brett Maloney, a former senior coach of the club and interleague coach. Brett’s experience was a real bonus for our up and coming players.
With coaching positions finalised it was imperative that sponsors were retained and many more sourced. In the current economic climate we really appreciate the support the club receives from all of these generous people. It goes without saying that sponsors are the lifeblood of the club and without their support we wouldn’t have the success and facilities we have at Tiger land.
The club continues to field a very strong junior group and we were able to field multiple teams in all age divisions. I would personally like to acknowledge all of the hard work the junior parents have done. The Sunshine Coast League runs a great competition allowing a lot of kids to continue to enjoy our wonderful game. It is a credit to Tony Jedynak (Jnr President) and Kylie McKenzie (Jnr Secretary) Tony Fitzpatrick (Coaching Convenor) and all the junior committee and coaches, that they are able to run such a smooth ship. Special congratulations must go to Mick Anderson’s U16 side who took out the A.F.L.S.C. Premiership. There is definitely some great talent in the team and future senior players. On great talent - it would be remiss of me not to mention Noosa Tigers junior player Cain Tickner’s invitation, as the only Queenslander, to join the elite AIS-AFL Level 1 squad. We wish him all the best for his future aspirations.
To my hardworking committee, thank you is not enough. The work they do every week has been fantastic. Although we were short in numbers, we managed to get the job done and this is a credit to their dedication. Special thanks to Camille Hendrie for her tireless efforts; not only was she treasurer but also did the secretary’s job as well!
To Karen Carr and all the club volunteers manning the canteen tirelessly throughout the year, thanks very much.
Also special mention to Tim Johnson who continually updates and controls our web site - a fantastic job - well done Tim.
To Ecky, who is retiring after 11 years as our trainer, thanks from the entire Club. We wish you well in the coming years.
In finishing, Noosa Tigers – What A Year:

Premiers A.F.L.S.C. - Under 16 - well done Mick and Boys
