Rick Watt returns to the helm of the Tamworth Swans after leading them to the 2009 Tamworth AFL Premiership. With a long tradition in the game, having played at the very top level and coached senior grades in Northern Tasmania, there is complete faith in Watt throughout the Swans. A committed and disciplined man, Rick expects the same approach from his players and demands their very best effort. He loves running play and commitment to the contested ball.
Watt started playing for the Collingwood Magpies when he was aged just 16. Injuries restricted him to just 17 games in his first four years, but he was seen as a player of untapped potential. After representing Victoria in Adelaide in 1969, Watt was named as an All Australian.
Rick suffered further injuries, and left Collingwood in 1972 to join Coburg in the VFA. He went on to captain-coach the Penguin Football Club in Tasmania, later playing with East Devonport to earn a best and fairest gong at both Club and League level.
