COOMA CUP 2013
The Tathra Sea Eagles travelled to Cooma on Saturday to compete in there fourth Cooma Cup Gala Day. The Sea Eagles went into the day having won two Cooma Cups previously, in 2010 & 2012. The first game of the day was against Pambula Panthers at 10:00am, as the game began you could see that the Eagles hadn't had any practice games leading into the day, and the Panthers went into half time with a 3 point lead. As the second half got under way Ruckman Jake King and Midfeild Gun Jacko Ainsworth and also Matt May began to find the footy and the Eagles ran out winners by 9 points.

In the Second game the Eagles came up against the home town team Cooma, as the final score showed, the Eagles really started to find there groove, Mitch May was super up forward booting 5 majors, while New Recruit Rob Sperring booted 2, aslo Mitch O'loghlin and young gun Ryan Crowley started to fire as the Eagles ran away 54 point winners.

The third game came around and it was the Round 1 preveiw, Tathra Vs Bega. The newley for club came into the clash with alot of inexperanced players, but this did not show with there effort. The Bombers battled hard all day and were very competitive, but the likes of Star Forward Mitch May Booting 9 Goals 1 put any chance of Bega causing an upset down the drain, May booted 9 Goals in a 40minute onslaught, while Mick Jolliffe and Vic Captain John Harney provided plenty of run of half back. The Final Margin was 89 points, this meant that the Sea Eagles would meet Pambula Panthers in the Grand Final..

The Grand Final Started off at a frantic pace with the Eagle under the pump early, Pambula kicked the first goal of the Match putting the Eagles on the Back Foot, but then the Eagles class came through with Captain Jason Ainsworth putting on a clinic as he control every stoppage and provided our forward line with plenty of ball, also 2012 B&F Winner Lachie Tanner came through when needed providing plenty of run of half back, it was a really hard fought game with Eagles coming away with there 3rd Cooma Cup, winning by 25 points.

Coach Taylor said he was very happy with he's players " all in all it was a really enjoyable day, our boys battle hard and got the reward in the end", he also made mention of the amazing effort from he's Captain Jacko Ainsworth, " It was a super effort by Jacko, i was really pleased in the way he lead the side and stamped he's authority on the games when needed" Ainsworth won the Medel for Best Player in the Carnival, also Taylor made mention of young gun Ryan Crowley, "Crowls had an awesome day today, he has really put himself in contention for Round 1 Against Bega"
Also new Recruit Rob Sperring caught the eye of Coach Taylor, with Taylor saying that it was nice to have a guy who has played some good footy in Vic " you could just tell that Sperro has been around good footy, he's a very smart player and dangerous around goal, he will be a very handy inclusion into a young Eagles Side. Tahtra play Bega in Under Lights in the Season Opener at the Bega Show Grounds on the 19th of April, hopefully there will be a Big Crowd there to see the New Team take on the Regining Premiers....
