Fourth In A Row
The Tathra Sea Eagles have finished thier awesome 2013 Season off in style, winning thier 4th Senior Premiership on the trot. It was a wet and windy day down at Merimbula on Saturday which made everybody think that the Senior contest would be a much closer game, but the Sea Eagles had other ideas, starting the game in typical Sea Eagle fashion. Tathra hit the scoreboard early thumping on a massive 8 Goals to Pambula's 2 in the first term. The Rain had stopped but the ground was still very slippery, due to the fact that in the Resrves Game, where Tathra also won the Premiership, the Rain did not stop for the whole Game. Going into the first break Tathra were defintly up and about, knowing full well that the Panthers would come at them at some stage, and they didn't have to wait long untill the challenge was on. Pambula came at the Sea Eagles hard in the Second term, outscoring thier opponants 2 goals to 1, but Tathra's Coach Luke Taylor knew that if they could withstand the second quarter effort by Pambula then his team would be in the box seat " I was pretty confident that if we could just hold on in the second, then i knew that would be about all Pambula could give, i think they spent a few to many petrol tickets, that's why we could do what we did in the 3rd Quarter". The Third Quarter was where Tathra really put the foot down and took control of the contest, making it a 41 point margin going into the last. The Last Term was a formality with the Sea Eagles running out 55 point winners and claiming thier 4th Flag on the trot, Coach Taylor praised all his players saying that the way they set up the Game in the first Quarter was massive in the context of the result, " The Boy's were awesome in that first Quarter, we alway's knew that if we could put in a really strong performance in that first 10 mins then that would have a massive bearing on the final outcome" Tathra's Captain Jason Ainsworth capped off a steller Season winning the Best On Ground Medal to go with his League B&F, his Coach said he couldn't have peformed any better in not only the Season, but in the Finals " What a Player, the way he lead this team on the field, as in leading from the front and setting the tone in a game, is the best i have seen from a Captain in my time in the game, the way he just makes sure that he is the one to grap the game and take everybody along with him is awesome". Tathra had a number of Players that played big Games on the day, Sharp Shooter Mitch May finished the day with 7 straight and the Season with a massive total of 158 Goals, also vetrens David Little & Brad McBain were massive according to Taylor " Yeah Macca & Croc had massive days, they are both such Big Game Player's, another Player that i thought had such an important game for us was Liam, he played on Pambula's coach Sean Smith & i thought he did an outstanding job, everybody played thier role, i could mention everybody in the team, i am just very proud of the whole team" Tathra's celebrations went long into Tuesday Morning, now they will get a couple of days to recover before they hold thier Presentation Night this Saturday at the Tathra Beach Bowling Club. The Coach is looking forward to finishing the year with a really good night " The Preso Nights are always great nights, especially when you win the Premiership, it's just a really good time to sit back and reflect on what was such an impressive Season by the club, everybody involved should be very proud".
