AINSWORTH WINS MEDAL
The Tathra Sea Eagles went along to the Sapphire Coast AFL Presentation Night with know expectation, but by the end of the night they had a table full of trophy's and another League Medalist. Tathra's Captain Jason Ainsworth took home his first League medal on Saturday Night which was well deserved. Ainsworth has had an amazing Season where he has lead his team to an undefeated season, Ainsworth said it was cool to win the medal but its not the medal that he set out to win, " I have a more important medal to win and thats the one i hopfully have hanging around my neck come grand final afternoon" Ainsworth finished the count on 20 votes, 2 Votes clear of Pambula's Dustin Rogers & 3 Votes clear of his Coach Luke Taylor & his former team mate Adam Blacka who both finished tied on 17 Votes in Third position. Other winners on the night included, Jessie Meaker - Rookie Of The Year, Mitch May - Leading Goal Kicker ( 140 Goals ), Luke Taylor - Coach Of The Year, Troy O'loghlin - Reserves Best & Fairest Winner, Brad Colligan - Reserves Leading Goal Kicker ( 51 Goals ), and the Club also won Club Champion. It was an amazing night the Coach of the Sea Eagles Said " It was a very humberling night for the club, for Jacko to take home the League Medal was a reward for great effort, he is the rock of our side & clearly the number one player in the comp, and i expect him to rise to the top again come a fortnights time" Taylor touched on the other award winners " It was great to see the two Forwards winning the goal kicking in there grades, particuly the effort of Mitch, to kick 140 goals in a season is a massive effort & i don't think we will ever see anything like it again, it was also great to see Jessie Meaker be reconized as the best young talent in our league, " Jessie started the year struggerling to kick a football, but he has trained really hard & worked on his skills to really become a massive part of our team, also well done to Troy for winning the two B&F, after only playing four games before he rusumed his duties in the ones, it just shows what a gun he is, defintly one of the best players i have played with." Tathra will move forward now and look towards Grand Final Day where the club will have both First Grade & Second Grade competing on the Day.
