RESULTS 12th APRIL 2015
Many thanks to Patrick Johnson and Nick Lewton for taking training last Wednesday night, it certainly was great to have both guys take the time to put our players through lots of new drills.
PANTHERS BLUE 2. 9. 21 defeated by CHADSTONE 10. 8. 68
With lots of new players, our team on paper looked a lot stronger than our last years runners up
combination, but Chadstone seemed a lot bigger, stronger and faster and played better team work to win a hard fought game by 47 points.
Early indications are that our Blue team has a great combination of past and new players to make an impact on premiership glory this year, any player that would like to move between teams, please talk to coaches Matt or Paul.
The margin of the defeat was no indication of the effort put in by several of our guys, and the last quarter
was possibly our best when we had five scoring shots to Chadstone’s four but could only manage behinds as they kicked three goals.
Great to see Michael Wright back in Panthers colours, Andrew Harland also made it back this season after injury last year, and Sammy Samason back from a long holiday in New Zealand was showing his normal courage and determination giving away lots of height and weight to make his presence felt all over the ground. Rod Pettit again this year is showing early signs already of his 2013 best and fairest form as he battled tirelessly all day, taking more than one heavy knock as the opposition decided to give him special attention, but with true courage and leadership Rocket picked himself up, and went to the next contest.
John Soles almost took mark of the century as he was airborne moments before the ball reached
the pack, and did a complete one and a half somersault, falling dangerously on his head.(The new helmet did its job)
Encouraging signs of things to come from our new players Robyn Stadder, Adam Suttie, and Aaron Nolan until his shoulder injury early in the third quarter.
Both coach Paul and his side kick Tim are convinced that our teamwork is much better than our display on Sunday against Chaddy, and we will get much better as we work into the 2015 season, and look forward to our next encounter with Gippsland on our home turf on 26th.
Goal Kickers; Michael Young and Shaun Dux.
Best; Rod Pettit (best on ground) Sam Samason, Michael Young, Mark Vanderven, Michael Lisak and Ben Smith.
PANTHERS WHITE defeated ST ALBANS by forfeit (We gained 4 points )
With the St Albans club still trying to get established for this season , the mighty Panthers ventured to Kings Park St Albans to promote FIDA footy in the western suburbs. Our Panthers White players, along with St Albans were organized into a scratch match by super coach Matt Johnson.
A great exhibition was put on by all players, with a couple of special moments, Paul Everitt kicked his first goal ever since starting his football career in 2013, plus new player and surprise packet Ben Connor-Hawkins kicked a goal in his first match in Panthers colours.
A 40 point all draw was the result of a great scratch match experienced by all players, and all left the ground with smiles on their faces after a very successful day.
Many thanks to St Albans for the sausage sizzle.
Best; Team effort by both teams
