C Grade Netball starting at 10.30 features ADELE DOWNEY who plays her 200th game for the Burra and will determine whether we play finals.
Adele has been a member of our club almost her entire life and has previously held positions on the Football Committee, Netball Committee and whilst working as our Netball League Delegate was an integral part of the team led by Jannine Ryan which restructured the Netball competition, the result of which we all see today with every club fiedling 3 netball sides. Well done Adele your contribution to the Diggers Rest Football Netball Club and the Riddell District Football Netball League are hard to surpass.
Adele is now the first lady of the club as the wife of our President, Paul Downey, and her work within the club is recognised with the annual NETBALL PLAYER'S PLAYER award being named in her honour.
B Grade Netball starting at 11.30 features SHANNON HERITAGE who plays her 100th Game.
Shannon should be proud of her behind the scenes work in support of her family, Dad Glenn Senior Team Manager, Mum Michelle Past Netball Coach and Brother Jeff Senior Vice Captain and in providing a happy, smiling face to Thursday night meals, social functions and on the court.
Shannon has proved herself to be a valuable player in every side she plays and over recent seasons has developed into a key and reliab le defender who is very much a team player.
Well done Shannon, and may your involvement with your club continue for many years to come.
The Club asks for all supporters to be at the netball court at these times to form a guard of honour for both of these players.
Reserves Football starting at 12 noon is the 100th game for our club by ZACH FISHER
Zach is yet another product of our junior development and Under 18 team and has proved that it is not the size of the MAN that counts but how much HEART and BRAVERY is the man.
One of Zach's previous coaches has stated that Zach always displayed no fear and could be relied upon accepting any challenge given him and this has continued into senior football with Zach now becoming a key player in the reserves, it could be said that when Zach plays well the reserves play well.
A feature of Zach's development is his attitude to life, the Club, his friends and himself, you can always rely on Zach provisding a laugh and a cheeky comment or moment.
Well done Zach, we are all looking forward to this game and may you enjoy many more.
Seniors Football starting at 2pm allows us the opportunity to celebrate STEVE RUANE's 150th game for the Burra.
Steve is recognised around the competition as an outstanding footballer, having already won the Bowen Medal as RDFL Best and Fairest, and luckily our Club also knows that Steve is an absolute gentleman and a vaulable member of our club.
Typical of Steve's modesty is that at a recent function he was asked to be photographed with a previous Bowen Medallist, Steve Howard, and he did not think he deserved to be included.
On behalf of the Club Steve, we are proud to include you as one of our best both on and off the field and we hope that your time at the Burra continues for many years to come.
Again we ask all supporters to present themselves at the gate in time to celebrate these two marvellous achievements.
